Valentine Vignettes for Easy Valentine’s Day Decor

When it comes to holidays, Valentine’s Day is one of my favorites. With both decorating and gift giving, there is less expectation and less pressure. Some years, I go big in decorating for Valentine’s Day, but other years I keep it simple. I enjoy using pops of red and pink in my February decor when nature is dormant. They are happy cheerful colors that can even help to combat the winter blahs. My decor strategy is simply to create special Valentine vignettes… an easy way to decorate.

These were all items that I already owned. I gathered and styled this Valentine vignette in about 15 minutes. So easy!

For years, my husband and I have gone on thrifting dates, seeking treasures in unexpected places. We’ve accumulated quite a few vintage collections, so I typically use what I already have on hand to decorate for Valentine’s Day, relying on creativity and resourcefulness. I tend to be sentimental, so I will often incorporate special items into my Valentine vignettes. Decor with meaning has a far greater impact. Here are some of my favorite vignettes that I’ve created over the years.

Romance around the Remington

My husband and I found this vintage red Remington typewriter at ReStore years ago. We waited a day to buy it, till it was half price. So thankful it was still there! The first Valentine card from my hubby is displayed on the typewriter. A red typewriter is irresistible for a Valentine vignette!

Kissing Booth

I created this Kissing Booth on wheels using an old discarded tool cart, window frame, and repurposed cabinet door / chalkboard. Dollar store goodies and a DIY heart banner adorn the booth. This Valentine vignette is the perfect spot for the family to exchange cards, candy and little gifts.

Welcomed With Love

This is such an easy Valentine vignette for our little porch…. a special pillow cover and weathered watering cans in Valentine colors filled with romantic faux flowers.

Fishing for Friends

Even a vintage minnow bucket and rusty tackle box can become a Valentine vignette with a bright red bouquet of roses. This too was a porch display.

Friendly Foyer

First impressions from our foyer! I scored this chippy old red ladder at an estate sale. I thought it would be ideal for Christmas and Valentine’s Day decorating.

Mantel with a Message

An old wooden mantel found curbside was upcycled into a bookcase. A favorite spot of mine to decorate, this chalkboard was filled with a powerful message and framed in love. The thrifted vintage treasures and faux flowers helped to create a pretty picture for a Valentine’s Day vignette.
This delicate dish was a gift from Uncle Bill, just a couple of years before he passed away. He was an avid treasure hunter at thrift stores and estate sales. This special vignette is sentimental.

Just My Type

As a child, I adored the clever messages with play on words often found in Valentine cards. This Valentine display was inspired by those sweet cards.

Mail Call

An old mailbox became the inspiration for this Valentine vignette. I wrapped empty boxes and addressed them to Comfy Lane Cottage.

Garden Greeting

A beautiful Valentine vignette in the garden! This old mailbox painted French Blue was the perfect vase for romantic roses. All the little details made this a darling vignette.

Pack it Pretty

A bright red vintage suitcase was packed with all kinds of Valentine’s Day pretties, including crocheted hearts made with love by my mother-in-law.

Comfy Lane Cafe

Our coffee and cocoa bar was so fun to transform for Valentine’s Day. My Instagram friend, Frankie, made the wreath in the corner hanging over the cocoa bar. I made the hanging hearts using cardboard and wrapping paper. My favorite DIY was the Comfy Lane Cafe shadow box over the coffee bar… so cute!
This adorable cafe sign was made by repurposing a vintage wooden shadow box. It was lined with Valentine wrapping paper. The awning was made with cardboard covered in fabric from an old bedsheet.
This Valentine’s Day Comfy Lane Cafe sign was a showstopper, hung over the coffee bar. Don’t throw away those old wooden shadow boxes. They’re ideal for creating an adorable Valentine vignette!

True Love Tiered Tray

A friend gave me this heart shaped tiered tray. It made a wonderful table centerpiece, displaying all kinds of littles.

Sew Much Love

By simply adding all kinds of red and white ribbons to this sewing station, it became part of the Valentine decor. Notice the red spool of thread… my favorite part of this Valentine vignette.

Heartfelt Hutch

This Ethan Allen hutch was a labor of love. Found at ReStore for just $35, I painted her a bluetiful shade of blue. A hutch is a wonderful place to create a Valentine vignette.
Valentine heart wrapping paper lined the back of our hutch. Have you ever considered decorating with wrapping paper? So many ideas! The dishes were thrifted, gifted and handed down. My Mama’s cookbooks were lovingly displayed as a sentimental reminder of how special she made Valentine’s Days.
Recipe for Success… when styling my hutch, I pull up photos from previous years, and use them as a template, changing a few details here and there. Did you notice that I skipped the wrapping paper on this Valentine display?!

LOVE Letters

The focal point for this hutch remains the same from year to year…  LOVE letters. I created the 4 large L O V E letters from cardboard, wrapped them with fabric, and hot glued the fabric on the back side of each letter. Wrapping paper would work to cover the letters also.

Tipping the Scale for You ♥️

YUM! My daughter’s homemade red velvet cupcakes deserved to be displayed as a centerpiece on our kitchen table. Delectable desserts are a delicious Valentine vignette.

Special Load for Loved Ones

An oversized metal pick-up truck is headed to the market with a bed full of Valentine flowers. This vignette was quick and easy.

Love at First Sight

The first thing seen at the top landing of our split-level home is this antique jelly jar cabinet all gussied up for Valentine’s Day. A vignette is more than just decor; it draws you into the room.

Flower Market Bound

The same antique jelly cabinet was decorated differently in a previous year. Using a smaller red pick-up truck worked just as well filled with a dollar store bouquet of roses. Do you see how easy it was to decorate this cabinet with Valentine touches?

🎵Fly Me to the Moon🎶

Fly Me to the Moon in a Radio Flyer! This is a Raggedy romance… and a nostalgic Valentine vignette. The old heart covered tin was the needed touch to transform this into Valentine’s Day decor.

Pretty in Pink Pick-up Truck

This tiny pink pick-up truck was a gift from a friend. So cute! The bed of the truck had just enough room for one rose bloom.  Simple, yet striking!

Tea for Two

Centerpieces have the potential to be eye-catching and picturesque vignettes. Such an easy way to decorate a dining room or kitchen!
What’s better than a tea themed Valentine vignette? A mother & daughter Valentine tea party!

Cupid’s Corner Cabinet

Love is brewing and percolating in this corner cabinet. Heart shaped molds and Pioneer Woman red gingham contact paper were all this cabinet needed to say Happy Valentine’s Day!

Rising to the Occasion

My husband collects oil and gas cans. I borrowed some to create an unexpected yet beautiful display. These stairs lead down to his man cave and garage workshop. This Valentine vignette seems fitting.

Pillow Power!

Behold the power of pillows! Just two little pillows made a big difference. My younger daughter sewed the pink heart pillow from an old sweater. The XOXO pillow was a dollar store find from many years ago. My favorite part of this view: the rusty red toolbox filled with flowers under the bench.

Coffee, Tea and Loving Me☕♥️☕

A coffee bar is an ideal spot to decorate for Valentine’s Day. DIY red gingham bunting and Pioneer Woman gingham contact paper are the key ingredients. Flowers, towels and heart candy boxes are like icing on the cake. YUM!

Basket Full of Love

This little nook was gussied up for Valentine’s Day. So easy…. Just flowers and a little hugs & kisses pillow!
The needlework on this heirloom linen was too pretty not to display. Paired with flowers created an unusual picture perfect Valentine vignette.

Pillow Talk

I discovered vintage Valentine inspired pillow covers on Amazon. Darling!!!! I placed them on colorful chairs with vintage items that matched the pillow image. Thankful that my husband lent me a few of his collected records in Valentine colors!
Hello, Valentine! I knew this adorable toy phone would be perfect for holiday vignettes.
Do you remember the old strap on roller skates?!! These worked wonderfully paired with the cutie pie roller skating on the pillow.

Center of my Heart Centerpieces

It didn’t take much to create this table view. Frankie and Lisa, both dear friends, were inspiration for this Galentine friendship vignette.
Using unexpected items, a vintage sewing box and doilies, as a Valentine centerpiece made this charming and sweet. DIY gingham bunting and red plates adorn the cabinet and contribute to a room with a Valentine view.

Lavender and Love

The colors of this Valentine vignette are divine! Simple and classy!
A wagonload of lavender for loved ones! Heavenly aroma! Rolling on with the colors red & purple, paired with a lavender theme.

Creating a Valentine vignette is easy. Picture an imaginary frame around a specific area. Whether it be a table, cabinet, stairs, chair, hutch or porch, the ideas are endless. Focus on decorating that “framed” area, till it becomes picture perfect in your eyes.

TIP: First choose a theme. Then choose a color scheme.

My greenhouse was all gussied up to get her picture taken for Valentine’s Day!

When growing up, my mom always made Valentine’s Day wonderful. We would awake to a kitchen all decorated, especially the table. It was simple, yet extremely special. I always looked forward to it. So even if it’s the night before Valentine’s Day, there’s still time to express your love through a little decorating. One vignette or several… they will say I Love You to those near and dear to your heart.❤️
