Valentine Decor Ideas to Express LOVE 💗

Decorating for family and friends is an expression of love, especially for Valentine’s Day. Using sentimental items filled with special meaning spells out LOVE in a beautiful way. Never allow decorating to become empty: just decor for the sake of decor. Decorating for Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to create special memories and bring joy to your home.

Vintage milk bottles found on a thrifting adventure sit front and center on our dining table. The faux roses are from a dear friend and look lovely displayed as a centerpiece.

Gifts, souvenirs from adventures, meaningful vignettes, messages, saved cards, vintage goodies and handmade treasures… these are all wonderful things to use in decorating for Valentine’s Day with the message of I Love You

Special items from friends and family come together for this vintage vignette centered on our living room mantel.

Here are some of the ways that I decorate my home, Comfy Lane Cottage, for Valentine’s Day. It is my hope and prayer of blessing others, rather than merely impressing. May you find encouragement and joyful inspiration for your own home as well.

Rusty old watering cans in red and pink are filled with Valentine blooms and ready to greet friends and family with love. Adding a LOVE pillow makes the message even sweeter.
Roses mixed with rusty fishing gear are a beautiful sight. My husband and I are collectors, so I use our collections when decorating.
A pathway garden flag says it all. I chose this one because of the red check border. It matches the inside decor. I’m a matchy matchy kind of decorator, who likes a cozy cottage flow from the curb throughout the cottage.
An old chippy red ladder found at an estate sale looks awesome in our split-level foyer, holding a pillow made by my youngest when learning to sew.
My husband collects oil/gas cans. I display them on the stairs leading to his garage/workshop. They’re even more beautiful adorned with flowers.
Faux flowers are inexpensive, can be used year after year, and look so lovely in Valentine displays. My husband likes it when I use his collections for decor.
There’s something romantic and nostalgic about this old chippy door. It’s the backdrop for our upstairs landing and definitely adds a warm welcome to all. The door wreath was a wedding gift from a friend in 1990. Blending old with new is an art… in decor and love both.
A cozy colorful corner in our living room filled with love! Red gingham and checks are sprinkled throughout our home for Valentine’s Day decor. There’s just something cheery about checks!
Pillow covers inspired by vintage Valentine cards are wonderful for creating loving vignettes. The ceramic drawer with nesting birdies was from a neighbor at our previous home.
LOVE Mail! I collect old mailboxes and display most of them in the garden. This red one is pretty cool!
The perfect Vintage Valentine for a very vintage couple!
This vignette is one of my favorite new creations, a kissing booth. 💋 A heart garland definitely adds a festive touch.
Everything in this vignette we already owned. It’s fun finding new ways to use old things.
Charlie Brown is precious! This nostalgic vignette is a smile maker.
This pick-up truck is a delight to decorate for various holidays. The red gingham dog is from my daughter…so cute! Romance is roses overflowing from a truck bed. My husband restores old cars, so he really likes it when I use them in decorating.
Katie Mae is modeling a comfy cozy throw blanket in red and white. Throw blankets and quilts are a wonderful way to incorporate Valentine colors into a home’s decor. Plus, they’re an invitation to snuggle!
Nala Bear is modeling a couple Valentine pillows. Pillows and pillow covers add coziness to our living room. Pillow covers are inexpensive and easy to store. I like to change out the pillows for each season. Notice the handmade fabric hearts hanging in the windows, a loving touch.
When decorating, it’s often all of the little loving touches that make a big difference.
Our dining room always gets a seasonal/ holiday makeover… table runner, cabinet decor and more. The red Valentine pops of color just catch the eye and draw you in for more.
Part of an old thrifted bed skirt is repurposed as a simple table runner. It cost about $1, quite a bargain for the amount of fabric! The red gingham and checks (ribbon, runner, pillows and curtains) tie everything together. Decorating is a labor of love!
My favorite place to decorate and create! This is where I hope to encourage and edify my family, as well as all others who see this message of love.
Our nearby neighborhood park, where my husband and I jog, has an abundance of pinecones each year, just waiting to be collected. Perfect for decorating!
“LOVE ONE ANOTHER.” My youngest daughter made the 2 woven hearts many years ago in elementary art class. They’re lovingly placed on the bookcase mantel.
These love birds are usually displayed in our bedroom as a quiet vision. Doves mate for life.
First impressions… It is my hope always that the first impression of a room says you are welcomed and loved here.
I’m a sentimental decorator, saving and using things gifted from others.  Cards, flowers, plates and more… I’ll find a way to use them in decorating.
This Valentine wreath was made by a sweet Instagram friend, and I treasure it because it reminds me of her.
Pioneer Woman red check removable wallpaper lines the back of our thrifted corner cabinet.  By changing the background of the cabinet, it’s become such a fun piece of furniture to decorate.
Yarn hearts from friends, my daughter’s gifted Valentine kitty and a large bouquet of flowers… all contribute to the cheerful message of LOVE.
Valentine vignettes using what you already own can be special Valentine displays. The colors on this plaque, red, pink and mint green, tie it all together.
This old Remington typewriter was a ReStore score. I use it to romantically reminisce displaying the first Valentine card from my husband.
So many special and sentimental items are carefully and lovingly placed in our kitchen hutch… my mom’s old cookie cutters and cookbook, dishes from Uncle Bill’s kind neighbor, a gifted kitty from a student my first year of teaching, a blue check napkin from a dear friend and so much more. LOVE is on these shelves… and also spelled out with cardboard covered in fabric.
Such a cute couple! Raggedy Ann and Andy are quite raggedy. They’re from an Instagram friend’s online flea market.
Fresh flowers from my husband look beautiful displayed in a painted mason jar with a red gingham ribbon.
Homemade gingham and hearts bunting and Pioneer Woman wallpaper transform this busy coffee bar into a happy cheerful place to start each morning.
This DIY heart chandelier has been hanging from the chandelier on Valentine’s Day for over two decades. It’s become a Valentine tradition that my grown children enjoy seeing, as it brings back happy childhood memories.

My mom-in-love used to give my youngest daughter stuffed animals for Valentine’s Day. I like to incorporate them into decorating. Using them year after year spreads the love! The red check chain swagged on the wagon is a diy made from wrapping paper, so easy!

Our home, Comfy Lane Cottage, has been created over the years with love. It’s a comfy cozy home… with love in every room… with love in every detail. During our time together, I hope you found joy, inspiration and most importantly LOVE!
