Autumn Stroll at Comfy Lane Cottage

When the leaves start changing colors, my heart jumps with joy. Creating cozy with color and beauty from junk are my passion, and Fall is always a time for inspiration. The Creator definitely planted such a desire within me.

Don’t you just love the sound of leaves crunching under foot?!!!πŸπŸ‚πŸ

A bit of curb appeal to welcome visitors and passersby!

An Autumn vignette is just what this spot needed!

There is a large roof overhang along the front of our house. Although we just have a tiny front stoop, I utilize all the covered ground just like it’s a big porch.

No space is left undecorated! I am unashamedly a maximalist!

Because of the pesky squirrels feasting on our pumpkins, I’ve resorted to faux pumpkins for outdoor displays.

I enjoy using bargain pieces of furniture outside. This blue bench and step stool were thrifted finds for just $3.

If you ever come for a visit, our dogs will definitely greet you at the door!🐾

An old claw foot tub was on my garden wish list for years. ReStore to the rescue! I had my eye on this one for weeks and snagged it for $50 during a storewide sale. My two strong sons carried this cast iron beauty to its perfect new spot. During the summer, a hummingbird visited the tub in the mornings. A perfect perch for morning coffee and bird watching!

Here’s a summer pic of the tub when I excitedly finished setting it up.

Isn’t the candy corn clay pot adorable?! Another ReStore score!

Thrifted finds worked beautifully in filling up the bare spots in the tub and adding a bit of whimsy.

Here’s a peek inside the greenhouse. During the warm months, I move most plants outside and fill up the shelves with vintage collections.

Among my collections are small stepladders old luggage, watering cans, baskets, baskets and more baskets! Is there such a thing as too many baskets? I think not!

A small table and chair are essential in making this a haven. It’s the perfect place to read, meditate and dream up big ideas.

Behind the fabric curtain are more shelves, where I store all kinds of gardening essentials. The rag garland was made from hand-me-down fabric scraps.

An old mailbox is a wonderful way to display vintage linens. The sunflower painting is a local gallery purchase. It was painted by a Ukrainian artist… a good reminder to pray.

Freezing temperatures came early this year. Out with the pretties and in with the plants. I fit everything but the large potted blueberries; they were covered with sheets for warmth. I need to put some of the mums in the ground to make more room.

This vintage chandelier was a wonderful addition to the greenhouse this year. I found it in pieces at the ReStore for just $10. ReStore is my favorite place to score old treasures needing new life in a new home. Isn’t the chandelier majestic?! You should see it all lit up at night!

Outside the greenhouse is a small cozy courtyard with seating and a fire pit. These Adirondack chairs are painted in a whimsical Spa Blue by Rust-Oleum. In the background is a wildflower garden and covered sidewalk, where potting benches and displays are decorated seasonally.

As the Purple Coneflowers faded in this wildflower bed, Goldenrod made a Fall appearance. They too have since gone to sleep for the winter. After the first deep freeze, more wildflower seeds will be sown with anticipation for Spring blooms.

This garden hutch was actually bought as two separate pieces, both from ReStore. The bottom cabinet was part of a built-in cabinet that was damaged when torn from its home… nothing that a fresh coat of French Blue paint can’t remedy. This hutch, with its pink touches, reminds me of special friends on Instagram, who enjoy all things vintage and pink.

This is the other side of the courtyard and fire pit area. The bench is painted in my favorite shade, Wildflower Blue. The wooden fence is part of our hot tub pavilion and is ideal for displaying part of my mailbox collection.

Behind the courtyard is a hillside garden and winding paths throughout. Our dogs helped to create the paths. They enjoy running around the garden while I’m tending to the flowers.

Here’s a close-up view of an old screen door and mailbox upcycled into a whimsical garden vignette. I change the flowers in the mailbox for seasons and holidays. Faux sunflowers are blooming throughout the garden. I’ve tried for years to grow sunflowers, but the squirrels always feast on them. Faux sure!🌻

I found this sunflower garden angel at an estate sale. I met the grown children of the owner. Their mama also had an enthusiasm for collecting vintage things. Hanging this in my garden seemed fitting.

This is a view down the garden path. I’ve planted a garden of Provincial Bouquet plates for a bit of color and whimsy. In the summer, flowers bloomed all around them. Now they’re surrounded by leaves and baby mums.

An upcycled bird bath adorns the pathway, made from a lamp base and sink. The bench is an impromptu creation from a discarded board and cinder blocks. Behind the shutters is a new compost, which will come in handy in the Spring. This part of the yard is still a work in progress, while we contemplate how to utilize the corner part of the hillside.

This is the side of our storage shed, definitely a He Shed on the inside! On the outside, it is embellished with plants and the kinds of things that transform a difficult yard into a cottage garden filled with charm.

I hope you found joy and Autumn inspiration as we strolled around Comfy Lane Cottage!
