March Makeover Madness… Just a Wee Bit of St. Patrick’s Day Decor!

With a name like LANE, it’s obvious we are Irish! ☘️ Both my husband and I enjoy celebrating our Irish roots, especially when St. Patrick’s Day approaches. March Madness for me has little to do with basketball and lots to do with bringing out the green decor for makeover madness.💚💚💚💚💚

In the Fall, I came across some adorable tulip plates at our local ReStore. I tucked them away, excitedly waiting to use them. I knew they would be perfect for our March hutch. Last year I paired red and green for our hutch colors. This year, these plates set the stage for a blue and green color scheme.

Yes, ReStore sells the most wonderful dishes…at bargain prices!
Using Pioneer Woman plates from my daughter, this was such a fun March hutch last year!

As February was ending, I pulled out the tulip plates and began gathering blue and green decor items. I definitely enjoy playing with colors. Blue and green are a sweet combination!

With decorating, the excitement always builds as I gather all kinds of pretties! Using a theme and color scheme help to pull it all together.

Are you ready to see how it turned out?!!! I’m thrilled with the end result. It was a process, as I kept tweaking and changing things around. I also scored a few great items while out picking with my hubby that tied everything together.

There are lots of layers, collections and sentimental items.
The St. Paddy’s bear was found in my hubby’s old things, and the crock of wooden utensils was a Christmas gift. We scored the jadeite lotus dish today at an estate sale for just 50¢!
I have quite a collection of rolling pins! These are just some of them. Green handled ones are hard to find these days. Blue wrapping paper covers the smallest pin.
The Celtic teaspoon rest was purchased a long time ago in Ireland for my hubby. A dear Instagram friend gave me the small minty green dish. Vintage sifters in just the right colors helped to complete the look.
This was taken once the decorations were up… before all the tweaking and changes. Decor is a work in progress! The shamrock chandelier adds to the festivities.
My mother made St. Patrick’s Day such a fun family event, even dying the milk green! This was her table runner. I can remember shopping together when she bought it.
Even the old Hoosier cabinet coffee bar got a March makeover.
I found the green tray, placed under the retro espresso machine, at an estate sale for 50¢. It fit in wonderfully with all the blue and green. Dollar Tree to the rescue for the towel, straws, and check contact paper lining the back of the cabinet!
Bunting has such a vintage vibe. This one was made from a thrifted sheet and fabric from my mom. Hot glue works just as nicely as sewing.
Isn’t this chippy old ladder a beauty?!!!! It too was a ReStore score. ReStore is my favorite store for finding vintage decor.
A photo bomber in the dining room! With the Irish name, Katie Mae, we’ll let her in on our March makeover decor tour.
Shamrock green continues in the dining room.
Displaying green plates in the old cabinet is a simple touch that makes a big impact, along with green bunting and table runner.
I had wanted to line the back of this vintage corner cabinet with the same green check contact paper used in the kitchen coffee bar. I went to several Dollar Trees but couldn’t find more, so I settled on this green wrapping paper. It’s a bold color!
The coffee percolator collection keeps growing!
This Singer was a birthday gift from my son. It works! Did you notice the green thread… little touches?!
Kansas City hosts a wonderful Irish Fest over the Labor Day weekend. We enjoyed the whiskey!
Blue and green continue in the living room by using old quilts, more collections, and festive decorations.
Old lanterns and milk glass fill the mantel.
Meet Irish Santa, as we’ve fondly named him. He makes an appearance at Christmas time as well. My mom-in-love crocheted the Lane handiwork.
It wouldn’t be St Paddy’s without a leprechaun!
A prayer of love…. from a humble heart recognizing the need for God’s love. I want others to feel His love for them in our home.
This sweet prayer of blessing was bought at a church’s Christmas rummage sale a few years ago. I thought the little screen door was the perfect place to display it. I so appreciate the Irish culture filled with blessings and prayers.
Grandma Mamie’s homemade quilt greets all who enter our home. This view through the window gives a peek onto our front porch.
Our Aunt Martha, gifted me with this adorable pillow cover. She’s our handyma’am, quite functional, but I think she’s catching on to the froufrou ways! My husband found the doormat at ReStore and knew I’d like it. He too is learning the blending of pretty with practical.
The watering cans are set out in anticipation of Spring. Hopefully, our small front stoop creates a warm welcome to all who enter our home.

I hope you’ve enjoyed our March Makeover Madness tour and experienced warmth, love and blessings from Comfy Lane Cottage!
